9 days until Christmas

I love Christmas but is it more this time of year that I notice the same people get all the hand-outs. I am not saying that I need anything more than what I have which is plenty. Quite honestly I'm spoiled and my husband's job enables me and my kids opportunities that some people just don't have. I'm just saying I know people who get by the skin of their teeth and yet with all this food and toys being donated they get nothing. I figure like this if you get handouts all year long let some of those low income families or military families get a little at Christmas. Maybe they aren't in public housing, getting free food and clothes but that doesn't mean those children should only have a gift or 2 for christmas does it??? After all I worked where I accepted welfare apps and some of those women had their nails and hair done and I know how much all that stuff can cost. The one even came in with her baby decked out in Baby Phat clothes....I always figured if you were that hard off your child would be lucky to have clothes not be kickin it in designer jeans. I also know that someone whose husband owned a local subway came in and applied....they were most likely raking it in but as a business owner he could say most of the assets were that of the business. With the unemployment rate so high and so many families scrapping by I think its high time for those families to get a little extra this year. No kid should have to give up their dreams and it breaks my heart to know that somewhere out there some parent is telling their little one that Santa had a rough year this year and that Christmas might not be what it has been in the past. Which could inturn get me started on these jerks who jump prices up on hard to get items...just aggravates me more than I have time to write in here tonight....maybe I"ll open that can of worms tomorrow.
